How Player’s Historical Knowledge Will Lead to Rewards

In these locations, players will explore the true history of the Knights Templar, and discover purported secrets that sometimes stay out of mainstream historical narratives. From underground caves, smuggler’s coves, hidden temples, and treasure hoards stolen from Eastern Kings, players will be told a tale of true history, and even have the chance to decode history themselves by looking at real-world artifacts.

The Avalon team have painstakingly recreated temple murals, churches, statues, scrolls, and more, and have even hidden gameplay secrets (which have NFT value) in these historical artifacts, encouraging the player to be fully ensconced in the history of the Templar by being directly incentivized. Real world out-of-game research will give players actual in-game advantages. It shows how passionate the Avalon team is for the history of the Knights Templar, and their desire to fully evince their extraordinary history to the players.

Of course, players will ultimately have the chance to join the order themselves, should they choose. With Avalon inching towards civil war as the pagan past meets the Christian future, players may find themselves having to take a side, or indeed wanting to join a side. In the Templar storyline, players will begin as a novitiate of the order, and will progress through three inner circles as they work their way towards the center and, indeed, adjacency to the Grand Master himself.

Players can choose to be a Templar Knight, a fierce warrior of the order pledged to follow the will of their Chapter Master, or an Enlightened Templar Knight, who use their knowledge of the secrets of the Knights Templar to extend their influence in the corridors of power and build the armory, treasury, and political economy of the order.
